The weddings of 2020 may have been dealt a cruel blow but the weddings of 2021 will be back with a vengeance, with happy couples everywhere finally able to say their vows in front of friends and family.
But what will these weddings look like and what kind of impact will the pandemic have on ceremonies of this kind in the near future?
Wedding website Hitched has made a few predictions of what it believes will be the biggest trends for weddings next year, including hand sanitisers as pre-wedding favours or being distributed around and about in small pouches, the London Evening Standard reports.
Buffets are also likely to disappear for a while, because health and safety will probably be a big concern for ceremonies next year, with plated meals continuing to dominate the scene.
Social distancing will also need to be taken into account and ceremonies will find they have to be shorter, with more standing room provided. There will be seating but chairs will be spread out so guests can follow the guidance.
And satellite dance floors will start to become more commonplace, with several dance floors and different bars situated around the venue so that your loved ones can spread out a bit more.
According to Metro, a socially distanced wedding has already taken place, with magazine editor Michael McCaw and banker Lucrecia Landeta Garcia becoming only the second to get hitched at Belfast City Hall since lockdown restrictions were introduced. They got married with six people present and celebrated their special day with cheers and clapping, instead of hugs!
